This  is a bizarre turn of events for both parties involved. Let’s hope this plays well for Netflix, maybe more original content will help them recover some of their brand image and shore up their user base.

New commercial for Android 4.0. If John Gruber is willing to concede that it’s a good thing, Android may have finally arrived.

A fantastic piece by Michael Lewis that clearly describes the depths of the Greek crisis and how far from adequate a EU bailout will be. It’s a little over a month old but still very much relevant.

I was really excited to reblog an announcement of the native Gmail iOS app. Turns out I can’t even get it to work. Get it together Google.

Incoming: A Native Gmail iPhone App. Finally.

parislemon:

Ever since I bought the original iPhone in 2007, there’s been one app above all others that I’ve been sorely missing: Gmail. Of course, back then, there were no native third-party apps. But a year later, when those came, Gmail was still nowhere to be found.

Then it was that Google was simply focusing on the mobile web (they’ve had a pretty good mobile web version of Gmail for a while). Then it was the strained (to put it mildly) relationship between Google and Apple. Still, other Google iPhone apps came. But never a Gmail one.

Ruby Monk is a site by C42 Engineering that aims to make learning ruby a little easier by creating exercises and coding problems that act as teaching aids. The site looks great and I look forward to seeing it develop and fill with content. This type of site is one of the reasons I chose Ruby when I decided to pick coding back up. There are a good number of free and excellent resources for learning ruby that I wasn’t able to find for other languages.

Watched this film last night. It takes a look at the democratization of artistic creation that has come about through the proliferation of new technologies. The film contains contrasting points of view regarding the value of this transformation and where it seems to be heading. It’s a free download via torrent and I highly recommend it.
